Customer Reviews
i mean how much can you say about a box of pens, they work and for this price its a steal.
For years I bought these pens (in boxes of 10 for a buck or so), and I was satisfied with them. They wrote better than their competitor the Bics and they were cheap and they wrote deep, dark blue, which was my favorite pen color because if you made a note in a book, the blue stood out from the text.
Lately, though, I've switched to the black Zebra Z-grips (1.0 mm). (Becoming a nurse made me learn to get used to writing with black.) Though the Zebras are more expensive per pen they have advantages:
- One-handed operation. If you have something in your left-hand, what a hassle it is to fumble with a capped pen trying to get it out of your pocket then get its cap off. With a clip/click pen you simply pull it from your pocket and click it and you're good to go in one smooth motion.
- With their chrome clips, the Zebras look better, almost classy.
- I can't remember the ink ever being blotchy, unlike with the Paper Mates where a big blotch was a regular occurrence.
- The barrels are thicker and have that rubber-ish finger grip thing. The paper mate barrels are so skinny your fingers can become tired just hanging onto them.
So, if you're willing to spend a little more, I'd go for the Zebras. (And, no, I have nothing to do with the Zebra company.) Zebra Z-Grip Retractable Ballpoint Pen, 24 Pack, 1.0 mm, Black (12221)
Note: I know the first pack of Zebras I had contained blue pens (and red), but I can't remember how dark the blue wrote (I liked the darkness of the Paper Mate ink), so I can't say whether you'll be satisfied if you go for the Zebra blue ink.
